Pi Network promotes Protocol 23 ahead of its May 11 activation

By Peace Longe from crypto.news

Pi Network co-founders took the Consensus 2026 stage in Miami, six days before Protocol 23 activates on May 11.

Identity and AI as Pi’s central argument

Nicolas Kokkalis argued that Pi Network’s KYC-verified user base offers an answer to a key AI-era challenge: confirming a user is human when AI can convincingly simulate human behaviour.

Pi Network points to 18 million verified users and 526 million completed KYC validation tasks as an advantage compared with purely code-based blockchains.

Dr. Chengdiao Fan told the audience that utility, not speculation, should drive the next phase of crypto adoption, linking Pi’s identity work to broader governance challenges.

With Protocol 23 days away, the founders used the conference to frame the upgrade ahead of launch, which will introduce full smart contract functionality to the Pi blockchain for the first time.
